One the best Tasting fluffiest Basmati Rice recipe. Following my passion for Dhaba cooking I came across this method of cooking Rice. The key to cooking perfect rice is to always soak it for at-least 30 minutes before cooking and let the rice cook in steam. When the rice cook in steam they get cooked fully and non sticky. The spices used gives this dish a very unique flavor. This Spicy onion rice recipe is delicious and Easy to cook.

Jeera and Pyaaz Rice Recipe | Tasty Cumin and Onion flavored Rice Recipe – Dhaba Style !!

    Ingredients

    • Rice - 2 Cups
    • Water - 2 Cups
    • Onion - 1 Big
    • Cumin Seeds - 2 Tbsp
    • Bay Leaf - 2
    • Cinnamon - 1 inch
    • Black Peppercorn - 1 Tbsp
    • Cloves - 6
    • Mace - 1 inch
    • Salt - 2 tbsp
    • Kashmiri Red Chili Powder - 1 Tbsp
    • Cardamom Seeds - 2 Tsp
    • Ghee - 2 Tbsp

    Instructions

    1. In a big pan, add Ghee, Cinnamon, Bay Leaves, Cumin, Black Peppercorn, Cloves, Mace.
    2. Saute for a 2 to 3 minutes on med - high heat.
    3. Add Onion and Salt. Cook till onions start to turn pink.
    4. Add Kashmiri Red Chili powder, and saute for another minute.
    5. Add Rice, Water and Cardamom seeds.
    6. Mix all the ingredients well.
    7. Cover the pan with lid.
    8. When the water level goes below rice, turn the flame off and let the rice cook in the steam.
    9. After 10 to 15 minutes remove the lid from the pan and fluff the rice with a spoon or fork.

    Recipe Notes

    ***Do not open the lid for 10 to 15 minutes after turning the flame off.
    ***For Electric Stoves - Remove the pan from hot burner/elements after 5 mins but do not open the lid for another 10 minutes

    This is to make sure the steam does not escape and rice are cooked properly in the steam.
